I Workshop on Broadband Access Networks (WRA 2011)
Workshop web site http://www.lrc.ic.unicamp.br/wra/2011/
June 3rd, 2011, Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul
Co-located with the 29th Brazilian Symposium on Computer Networks and Distributed Systems (SBRC 2011)
Presentation
The rapid growth in the number of Internet users as well as the proliferation of high-bandwidth services such as high definition IPTV, video on demand, and interactive online games, has encouraged the investments on broadband access networks. The Brazilian federal government has launched, in May 2010, a program called Plano Nacional de Banda Larga (PNBL - National Broadband Plan) aimed at making access to broadband Internet universal. Given the social and economic importance of low-cost and efficient technologies for broadband access, we invite researchers from academia and industry to discuss current trends in this area.
The First Workshop on Broadband Access Networks (I WRA) aims to be a forum for the presentation of recent and ongoing work on technologies for access networks, in particular those related to the convergence of optical and wireless networks. The workshop will be co-located with the XXIX Brazilian Symposium on Computer Networks and Distributed Systems (SBRC), which will be held from May 30th to June 3rd 2011, in Campo Grande, MS, Brazil.
